Welcome to Roughacre Brewery in Castle Camps, Cambridgeshire. Established in March 2018, we are a new and enthusiastic microbrewery with a passion for high quality, fine ales of character. We're extremely proud of our tasty small-batch brews which currently range from classic amber ales and golden IPA to Belgian-style abbey ale and dark coffee porter... and quite a bit in between!
By using only the very finest malts and hops and producing each of our brews in small quantities we are able to create exceptional ales under tightly controlled conditions, testing and tweaking our recipes at every stage. This method allows us to experiment with dozens of different beer styles as well as perfecting our more popular range of ales and craft lagers.
Our beers are available in both 330ml amber bottles and in casks (9-gal firkins and 4.5-gal pins) which we are now providing to pubs, restaurants and catering businesses in the South Cambridgeshire, West Suffolk and North Essex regions. All of our ales are bottle and cask conditioned, free from gelatine or other animal products and suitable for vegans.
We're proud to introducing our 2019 range of cask-conditioned real ales, available in Firkins and Pins
Specially created for the spring and summer festival season, this is a thirst-quenching zesty pale ale ideal for the long hot summer days. Brewed with generous amounts of Ahtanum, Topaz, Australian Summer and Belma hops to impart incredibly orange, apricot and melon flavours with a deliciously refreshing grapefruit aroma. Available later this year.
A new take on an old-fashioned classic, 'Roughacre Red' is brewed with a perfectly balanced blend of wheat and barley malts to deliver a deliciously chocolaty, malty flavour. We use a combination of traditional Northdown and East Kent Golding hops to provide a satisfying light bitterness with Bramling Cross hops for a subtle spiciness and a delicately fruity aroma. Truly an ale for all seasons! Available from March 2019.
Brewed with classic British malts and modern American hop varieties, our transatlantic pale ale delivers the best that both sides of the pond have to offer! Multiple hoppings with a carefully selected blend of four hop varieties give Alliance TPA a powerful aroma and deeply satisfying flavour. An additional dry hop stage during fermentation using whole leaf Belma hops imparts a uniquely red-fruit aroma, complimenting the mouthwatering citrus flavours of the hops added in the brewing stage.
This cask ale has proven to be one of our most popular with the local real ale enthusiasts. A delicious amber ale packed with flavour, refreshing bitterness and a delicate hoppy finish imparted by a late addition of East Kent Golding and Progress hops. Simply perfection!
Our latest creation is an intense and complex porter brewed with roasted barley, dark crystal and chocolate malts and sustainably sourced freshly ground coffee. We use East Kent Golding and WGV hops to deliver a well-balanced bitterness and late addition Williamette and Belma hops for a complementing hint of red berries.
This rich tawny beer is full of satisfying malty flavours due to a generous combination of barley and wheat malts. Brewed with traditional English Fuggle and East Kent Golding hops with a late addition of fragrant Slovenian Aurora to deliver a deliciously delicate spiciness and subtle hop aroma.
Our dark chestnut-coloured festive ale is brewed with a subtle hint of Christmas spices. The combination of barley and wheat malts layered with traditional English hops imparts a subtly sweet, dried fruits flavour and a distinctive nose of sherry and cinnamon. A perfect ale to be savoured through the long winter evenings.
Hopped in multiple stages through the brewing process with generous quantities of Chinook, Centennial and Cascade hops, this golden ale has a mouthwatering citrus aroma and a refreshing flavour with hints of grapefruit and lychee. A dry hop stage is added during fermentation using whole leaf Liberty hops to give our American-style IPA a subtle spiciness, complimenting the citrus flavours provided by the hops added during the brew.
